Individual Plans
If you are seeking individual health insurance, please click on the button below to obtain benefit and rate information from BlueCross BlueShield of Texas. You will be linked to a site where you can view details of all individual products available through BCBS*. Once a plan has been selected, the application may be completed and submitted online. BlueCross BlueShield will contact the applicant directly within approximately 5-7 days to schedule a telephone interview where they confirm responses and get clarification on any medical information presented.
*Please keep in mind that individual health coverage is vastly different than group coverage. Applicants’ medical history will be thoroughly analyzed during the underwriting process. Coverage can be excluded for pre-existing conditions either temporarily or permanently, premiums may be rated-up due to health history, and medical records may be required for non-routine health history information There is also the potential that an applicant may be declined for coverage altogether. Unlike most group plans, coverage on an individual policy is never guaranteed.
Benefits on individual plans are often limited and typically do not include maternity or mental health coverage (please refer to the benefit information and contracts for specific details).
An application with standard health history typically takes 2-4 weeks to complete the underwriting process.
